Joe Harland

Visual Radio Radio 1 & 1Xtra

Joe Harland is the Head Of Visual Radio for the BBC, leading a team specialising in turning great radio into shareable video. Under his leadership Radio 1 has become the most watched radio station in the world with over 1.8 million subscribers, and with a string of viral hits under his belt can be said to have mastered the art of creating content that the audience just have to share.

Born and raised in Marlow, England, he studied at the University Of Kent where he first presented and produced music radio, before becoming a football commentater for Invicta Radio.

Since then he has produced shows with the likes of Jo Whiley and Zane Lowe amongst others before taking up a role as Executive Producer overseeing the stations specialist output - garnering several Sony Awards for his shows along the way.

Away from radio Joe has an unhealthy fascination with the Spaghetti Westerns of Sergio Leone, and recently returned from a pilgrimage to Sad Hill Cemetery from The Good, The Bad & The Ugly
