Radiodays Europe 2013 Social Evening Events

Past, Present and Future: Get a Feel for Berlin’s Chequered History at Radiodays Europe’s Social and Networking Events

On Monday 18th March, Radiodays Europe Delegates will have the honour of being officially invited and greeted by the Senate of Berlin, at modern-day Berlin’s main town hall „Rotes Rathaus“. But the venue for the Welcoming Drinks Reception on Sunday 17th March needn’t take second place: A unique historical building telling tales from both, Berlin’s past, and its multicultural future.

RDE-Welcoming Drinks Reception on Sunday, 17th March at 19h00 (7 pm) at Parochialkirche, hosted by ARD
In RDE’s young history, hasn’t the Welcoming Drinks Reception secretly grown to be a very highlight of our 2½ days-event?  We are looking forward to welcoming radio professionals from all over the world to meet and to mingle, often after a year of not having seen each other, at our Reception on Sunday 17th March, as of 19h00 / 7 pm.

The venue of this social event, Parochialkirche, is breathtaking and reflects  both, the past and the future of Berlin’s rich cultural heritage: Partly destroyed in World War II, Berlin’s oldest protestant church is soon to become a multi-cultural point of exchange between Christian, Jewish and Muslim traditions.

Join us for drinks, snacks and fresh acquaintances from 19h00 - 20h45 (7 pm - 8.45 pm) at Parochialkirche, Klosterstrasse 77, Berlin. Participants will be able to pick up their conference badge here, so they needn’t queue for it on Monday morning. This opening reception is kindly hosted by ARD, the joint organization of Germany’s regional public-service broadcasters – and we will be welcomed by Christoph Singelnstein, the radio director of ARD’s broadcaster in Berlin Brandenburg RBB.

Official Aperitif Reception hosted by The Senate of Berlin on Monday, 18th March at 18h00 – 19h15 (6 pm – 7.15 pm), at Rotes Rathaus
On Monday, at 18h00, all RDE delegates have the honour of being invited by the Senate of Berlin to an Aperitif Reception at Berlin’s town hall, the “Rotes Rathaus” (please be punctual, due to a tight schedule of our host). The participants of Radiodays Europe will be greeted by the Senate Spokesman and Head of the Press and Information Office, Permanent Secretary Dr. Richard Meng, on behalf of the Governing Mayor and the Senate of Berlin.

The „Rotes Rathaus“ (Red Town Hall) is located only a 8 minutes’ stroll from conference venue bcc, near Alexanderplatz. The name of the landmark building - built between 1861 and 1869 in the style of the north Italian high renaissance - dates from the facade design with red clinker bricks.
