My radio market is bigger than yours

How can you grow your radio market? A tricky thing to do, but not impossible…

We heard from Jussi Suvanto, the Programme Director of Radio Suomipop in Finland, about how they focus on music, events and marketing to develop their position and reinforce their Finnish-music only format. 

Bogdan Potoniec, the Group Programme Director of Time Group in Poland, discussed the launch of Vox FM and their desire to create a station with good TSL targeting the over 30s. The station, a dance and disco hybrid, combines classic disco, 90s and contemporary dance. Potoniec felt that by creating something uniquely Polish, rather than buying in a format, then they were able to go from number nine in the market to number five. 

Rosario Pellecchia, a presenter at Radio 105 in Italy, demonstrated how irreverence and a focused research tracking strategy helps them maintain their position in the market.
