CHECKPOINTS Berlin: Sunday tours for radio friends

Get to know the German capital with its sights and hidden treasures only the residents know and love! 

On Sunday afternoon the German partners of Radiodays Europe offer four different sightseeing tours with English speaking radio professionals as tour guides - from the Berlin Wall path to guided bicycle tours through the city with possibly the most intriguing radio history in Europe.

On your trip, you’ll be able to get in touch with fellow radio people from all over the world that you can intensify the contact with during the following conference days.

The guided city tours are offered on the initiative of main partner Radiozentrale and further German partners. Participation is free of charge. The capacity is limited, so online preregistration is recommended to be granted a place.  But you can also meet up at Berliner Congress Center on Sunday 17th to join a tour if there are still capacity for more participants. 

NB - note that the Alex/MABB-tour "Scenic Sunday Life at former Borderline" starts at 2:00 pm, while the three others has 2:30 pm as meet up time.

Accompanying partners of participants at Radiodays Europe are also welcome to take part in tours.  Preregister here.

1. Along the historical Borderline  FULLY BOOKED, CHOOSE ANOTHER TOUR

23 years after the German reunification, eastern and western citizens of the formerly divided Berlin now live mutually in a borderless city. On the trails of those former borderlines we will visit historical places like Brandenburger Tor, Pariser Platz and Reichstag.

These witnesses of the borderline of the former divided city can be explored and experienced directly in the historic center of Berlin. Radiozentrale Team invites you to a historic Berlin walk with a short ride by typical “Doppeldecker” bus - routed by a professional city guide.

Visit f.e. the symbol of the divided city, the Brandenburger Tor as well as Pariser Platz and Reichstag! Optionally we will discover the dome of Reichstag with audio guides in your own language. Get a glimpse of these important Berlin monuments and taste some typical specialities of Berlin at the several stopps.

Remarks:  The tour is free of charge and will be conducted in English. For Reichstag we have to make a reservation – so we beg you to come definitely after doing this reservation. Passport required therefore!

2. Scenic Sunday Life on former Borderline  - STILL VACANT PLACES

After a glimpse at the Berlin Wall Memorial situated at the historic site on Bernauer Strasse, we invite you to Mauerpark. Where once the wall devided the eastern and western part of Berlin, you will find the former silence broken – in a uncomplicated and united way.
All citizens of Berlin come together for a legendary outdoor karaoke event and a flea market.  Share with us and many young people from Berlin a typical Sunday afternoon which will end in a come together @ ALEX RADIO, the community radio of Berlin-Brandenburg. Look forward to one afternoon with friends, enjoying this relaxed part of Berlin.

3.  A guided bicycle tour through the city centre of Berlin


radioBERLIN 88,8 invites you to a bicycle tour through the downtown area of Berlin.  You experience the highlights of Berlin’s tourist attractions, such as the boulevard “Unter den Linden” with its historical buildings, the Brandenburger Tor and the French cathedral at the “Gendarmenmarkt”.

4. Insert Coin - Spoiled Milk presents the Best Games of the 80ies, 90ies & 2000s - STILL VACANT PLACES

Play with us. We will visit the Computerspielmuseum (Computer Game Museum) and play the good old classics on original consoles. And this is what you can expect: "Over 300 exhibits, including rare originals, playable classics and art works from the game-art sector and interaction performances, conspire to turn you into “Homo Ludens Digitalis..." more Well, if you are a Digital Native this should sound good to you. Afterwards we will have an analog & original Berlin Currywurst (curried sausage) at Konnopke´s Imbiss.
