Mark Cummins is Content Manager, SBS Radio Australia. Mark's role in Audio and Language Content (ALC) at SBS is to manage and develop content to cater for, reflect and encourage SBS audiences to explore the diversity of cultures in Australia and around the world.  This includes setting  the day to day editorial direction for SBS Radio’s 74 language programs across AM, FM, digital radio and online – and to identify new content opportunities.

Mark joined SBS as Content Manager in 2007, and has played a leading role in the development of SBS Radio’s new program formats and schedule, Australia’s first Mandarin language television news program, Mandarin News Australia and SBS Radio’s digital Pop music brand SBSPopAsia – Australia’s first music video program which engages young Australians in the pop culture and music of East Asia.

Prior to joining SBS, Mark had an extensive and successful track record in media in Japan, the UK and Sweden.  Mark was the Head of English language programming at the international and multicultural arm of Swedish Broadcasting in Stockholm where he oversaw the move from broadcast centric to online formats for radio. He has worked as a producer of news and documentaries for public and commercial broadcasters in Japan, Sweden and the UK. 

Mark's first job in broadcasting was as television news reporter - in Japanese - for Asahi Broadcasting Corporation in Japan, after completing a Masters in Asian Studies at the University of Osaka. He holds an MBA from the Norwegian School of Business, Handelhøgskolan in Olso, Norway.
