Newsletter RDE 2013-09-05

Welcome to Dublin in 199 days!

Dublin is preparing for being the host city for next year´s Radiodays Europe 23-25 March 2014. Last week the RDE management had meetings in Dublin with the local broadcaster partners RTÉ (public) and IBI (Independent Broadcasters of Ireland). Involved locally is also BBC Northern Ireland. Besides the conference itself, the Irish partners are engaging in making the networking events to something out of the ordinary with a strong Irish touch.

Is there a pub big enough for 1000 people? Yes. Irish music? Yes. Is there a second venue that would really surprise visitors on Monday night? Yes, you could probably never guess, but you have to wait for the surprise. Will there be radio tours Sunday afternoon? Yes.

Dublin venue CCD

The conference venue Convention Centre Dublin sits right by river Liffey, not far from the city centre and only 20 minutes from the airport. Opened in 2010, it is one of the most modern conference centres in the world and has won several awards already. It has a magnificent main hall and other good facilities, including a large exhibition hall and lounge areas on all floors with views of Dublin and the Liffey through the glassed walls.

Conference committee meets in Brussels

1st of October is the starting point for creating the programme for next year´s Radiodays Europe. On that day the Conference Committee, the advisory body of RDE, will meet in Brussels. In the committee, the partner organisations from all over Europe are represented and topics, themes and speakers for next year will be discussed. After that, the Programme Group with the Project Managers Anders Held, Rolf Brandrud and 6 other persons will continue the work to create the most relevant, surprising and interesting programme for next year´s conference.

If you want to send a proposal for a topic or a speaker, please send it to the Project Managers:

New partners in Asia

The interest in Radiodays Europe is growing outside Europe. KBS (Korean Broadcasting Corporation) and AIBD (Asia-Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development) with members in 26 countries in Asia-Pacific and headquarters in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, have signed partnership agreements with RDE. As partners they will promote Radiodays Europe in Asia to raise attendance as well as propose speakers from the region.

- Of course we are proud to see the rising interest in Asia for what obviously is becoming the most important radio event in the world. I am sure we will see the number of countries present at Radiodays Europe in Dublin rise from last year´s impressive 50 countries, says Anders Held, Project Manager.

Business opportunities – time to book exhibition space and packages

With 1200 delegates from 50 countries in Berlin, both private and public service, Radiodays Europe is a unique opportunity for any business to reach the European radio industry.
