Last new names in the programme

The "Microkia" alliance is challenging the now dominating market leader Google on location based services. Nokia´s director of Places Gary Gale will give us the overview of this rapidly expanding market and tell us how radio can benefit from it.

From Ireland - which really has experienced the economic crisis, but come through it in a better way than many other countries - comes David Murphy, business editor of RTE, to tell about the challenges in reporting on complicated financial matters with large consequences for the population.

Denmark, Netherlands and Italy - how does the leading shows on radio sound in these countries? Ida Ebbensgaard from Denmark Radio´s youth channel P3 will come in with her views together with Giel Beelen from the Dutch 3FM and Filippo Solibello from the Italian RAI 2.

Tri-lingual conference

All sessions in Auditorium, Teatre and Raval will be translated into Spanish and Catalan.  Two sessions - "Radio in Spain and Catalonia" and "Radio and football: A perfect match" - will be in Spanish with translation into English.

Times and places

The Radiodays Europe starts with welcoming reception at the Barcelona´s museum of modern art, MACBA, on Wednesday 14th at 8:15 pm. It is a drinks reception, not a meal.

On Thursday the conference venue CCCB (Barcelona´s center for contemporary culture) opens for registration and morning coffee from 8 am. The conference itself runs from 9 am to 6 pm Thursday and from 9 am to 2:30 pm on Friday. On Thursday night 7 to 9 pm there will be a Catalan reception - with a meal - at Casa Llotja de Mar (CLM).

The MACBA and the CCCB are lying right next to each other, while CLM is located in another part of Barcelona closer to the harbour. You find the locations on the maps on both our web site and mobile service. The street adresses are
- MACBA, Plaça dels Àngels, 1, 08001 Barcelona
- CCCB, C/Montalegre, 5, 08001 Barcelona
- Casa Llotja de Mar, Saló de Contractacions, Pla de Palau Square, 08003 Barcelona

Leisure activities

For those arriving early or taking extra days in Barcelona after the conference - have a look at suggestions from our local partners about "Leisure activities" in the upper right Barcelona window on www.radiodayseurope.com.

Just a warning in the end - be careful, pickpockets are active in tourist areas of Barcelona. In the historic area, use the more frequented streets at night.

Have some good days up to the great event
- and thenwe are looking forward to see you all in Barcelona!
