Dublin: Meetingpoint for radio
and new media headquarters

Seeking for community: Google, Facebook and Storyful

A number of global new media companies have established European headquarters in Dublin: Facebook, Google, Twitter, Yahoo.   In the middle of this lies the top rated Convention Center Dublin which Radiodays Europe this year makes into the European meeting point for radio.  Of course we must look into what radio and new media have to offer each other in this age and this city of digitalisation and convergence!

In a new session on the programme Daniel Sieberg, Google, Evin Gaffney, Facebook and Aine Kerr from Storyful will share their views on what radio can do.

Everybody to Dublin?

We will be more than 1300 radio people gathered in Dublin this year.  That is more than in Berlin last year, and much more than in Barcelona the year before.  Radiodays Europe has really become a must-attend event to a growing crowd of radio professionals.

In Barcelona and Berlin we were completely sold out.  Even in Dublin the capacity of hotels and our conference halls at the CCD are approaching the limits.  But there is still room for some more!  Be sure to register before we have to start saying no to new registrations!

Live broadcasting from RDE 2014

A radio studio will be set up outside the conference halls in the venue of Radiodays Europe for the conference days.  From there programmes in the Irish public broadcaster RTÉ and local commercial broadcasters will be broadcasted live.  Broadcasters from other countries are also welcome to sent from the studio – just coordinate with David.Timpson@rte.ie for vacant time slots.

There will also be two radio channels dedicated to Radiodays Europe for the days around the conference, broadcast online and on RTÉ’s DAB network.  In 48 hours of special broadcasting RTÉ Radio 1 Extra will promote radio – speakers and delegates will be interviewed about their favourite radio programmes all over the world and the channel will transmit these interviews and programmes.  Tell David Timpson about your own favourite and get on air in Ireland!

In the other popup-channel, Radio Bang Bang!  Radiodays Europe Student Radio, media students from Dublin Institute of Technology will broadcast interviews and sum up impressions and lessons learnt from the conference in magazine programmes. Catch up everyday on what sessions you may have missed with special bulletins at 13:30 and 18:00.

Both channels will also be streamed on Radiodays Europe’s app for IOS and Android.  Note: RTÉ’s DAB network covers 52% of the Irish population and 12% of households own a digital radio
