Dublin will be host city for
Radiodays Europe 2014

Radiodays Europe, the world´s largest international radio conference with 1200 delegates, will next year be held in Dublin, Ireland on the 23-25 March 2014.

The conference venue will be the world class  Convention Center Dublin (ccd), right by the river Liffey in central Dublin. Convention Center Dublin was opened in 2010 and has won awards for being one of the best conference venues in the world.

Radiodays Europe is welcomed to Dublin by IBI, the Independent Broadcasters of Ireland, and RTÉ, the Irish public broadcaster, in association with BBC Northern Ireland.

“It makes sense for Radiodays Europe to move to the English speaking part of Europe for the 5th edition in 2014. We have so far been in the North (Copenhagen), the South (Barcelona) and in the centre (Berlin).

“Dublin is a wonderful destination and the venue is state of the art and suitable for Radiodays Europe.  This, and the dedication of our Irish radio partners, will make sure that Radiodays Europe 2014 will be an extraordinary experience”.

Internet radio simplified

Digitalradio Norway has signed an agreement with UK Radioplayer and will launch a new type of radio player for Norwegian radio channels. The British system, in Norway being named, makes it easier to listen to online radio. The radio player contents features adding new dimensions to the use of Internet radio.

The dust has settled on the first 24 hours at Radiodays Europe in Berlin. We’ve had 1100 delegates through the door, 25 sessions and an incredibly positive message: broadcasters are working together to build a strong future for radio.


Radiodays Europe Opens in Berlin

Radiodays Europe 2013 kicked off on Sunday at the Berliner Congress Center in Berlin. Rolf Brandrud, co-founder and project manager of Radiodays Europe welcomed this year’s participants in an informal gathering hosted by ARD at the Parochialkirche (a reformed church).

Industry leaders were unanimous at this year’s Radiodays Europe that DAB/DAB+ is the future of digital radio in Europe, enabling broadcasters to provide innovative radio that will remain relevant in the digital era.

BPI chairman Tony Wadsworth CBE has echoed optimistic predictions for the music industry as the digital age develops, saying that the UK will this year move into a majority digital music market.Speaking at the Radiodays Europe 2013 conference in Berlin, Wadsworth charted the turbulent times in the music industry during the digital revolution.



Radiodays: Future of brands reinforced

The importance of commercial radio brands was demonstrated at Radiodays Europe today by Real and Smooth Group PD John Simons. Speaking on the future of radio, John showed delegates graphs on how commercial radio competes with the BBC. For example, BBC Radio 1′s main commercial competitors are Kiss and Capital, and together they come close to matching audience share.

There was a terrific response in the room to the talk given by fellow Australian, Sam Cavanagh. Sam is the Executive Producer of the Hamish & Andy Show. At the heart of his talk was an idea around how the program team treated their audience. As he spoke, with a great deal of passion, there was a real sense of excitement in the room around the idea of seeing your audience as “fans”, not “listeners.”
