News from Radiodays Europe 30. January 2014:

British pop icon, German investigative reporting and French top level NRJ exec

Kim Wilde is an international pop icon and radio presenter om Magic 105.4 in UK.  To date she has sold over 10 million albums and 20 million singles around the world in a recording career spanning more than thirty years.  At Radiodays Europe she performs live on stage and talks about her life, music and career.

US drone attacks in Africa were controlled from Stuttgart, Germany.  This was one of the findings from investigative journalism about hidden activity in US bases in Germany by Norddeutsche Rundfunk and Süddeutsche Zeitung in the price awarded series "The Secret War".  Head of the NDR Radio unit, Adrian Feuerbacher, speaks about the special attention-gathering role of radio in this radio, tv, internet and print project.

Maryam Salehi, Managing Director, NRJ Group, France, will be the fourth radio executive in the top level discussion at Radiodays Europe.  NRJ is among the largest commercial radio groups with channels in 20 countries in Europe, North and South America.

Radiodays Europe is the largest international radio conference of its kind and had 1200 participants from 50 countries in Berlin 2013. The conference itself will cover a vast range of topics, from the latest digital challenges to new programme formats and inspiring innovations in radio. Radiodays is also an opportunity to meet all the leading figures in radio from across Europe and the world.

 Plan your days in Dublin: 23-25 March 2014

Radiodays Europe kicks off on Sunday 23rd with three specialized workshops and four themed Dublin Tours.  The workshops will be held at the conference venue CCD at 13:30 – 16:30 pm. It will be possible to participate in both workshops and Dublin tours, as some of the tours start at 11:00 am.

The main conference and exhibition will start Monday 24th at 9 a.m. and will end Tuesday 25th at 4 p.m. On Monday night there will be a Radio Night event out of the ordinary for all participants.

Workshops and Dublin Tours Sunday 23rd

Each of the three workshops 1330-1630 at the CCD  is available at an extra fee of 100 euro (incl VAT).  They have limited capacity and pre-registration is required, but there are still some places left.
    •    Storytelling on radio will be run by two leading radio producers from public broadcaster RTE, Ireland: Ronan Kelly and Liam O’Brien.
    •   Valerie Geller, internationally known consultant and trainer, will teach you how to Develop your on-air talent.
    •    And BBC College of Journalism will give a workshop they have run for hundreds of BBC News leaders on how to Be a Successful Editorial Leader.

Among the tours starting between 11 and 15 on Sunday 23rd you can choose between
    •    a musical/literary Treasure Hunt in the streets of Dublin
    •    a nature tour in Phoenix Park, one of the largest parks in Europe  with free-moving herd of deers, the Dublin Zoo etc.
    •    a Literary Pub Crawl testing the beer and listening to actors on the way
    •    a Radio Tour visiting public broadcaster RTE and independent radios

The tours will be arranged by the local partners of Radiodays Europe. More detailed info about each tour and how to register for them, will come in our newsletter and on our web site in February.
