The success of speech radio



Securing the future of radio means producing quality speech radio, especially if you consider the success of RMC in France. 

 RMC have increased their audiences dramatically over the past ten years by staying focused on three aspects of broadcasting, says Frank Lanoux, CEO of RMC: 
 
1. Personality - You have to find a host with a personality. It is important that they are curious and open-minded towards new approaches in programming and interviewing. 
 
2. Opinion - There are a lot of radio stations which convey information, but the listener can become overwhelmed by this. Thus it's important to provide listeners with opinions. So RMC emphasises points of view via controversial debates in its programming.
 
3. Interactivity - The station regularly invites politicians answer listener questions, as an effective way to interact with audiences.
