Radio in South Africa



People grow up with telling stories in South Africa, so radio makes sense. It means  there are a lot of radio creatives in South Africa.

The country doesn’t have big TV budgets, so radio can compete with TV in media land. 

 

And in terms of consumers, there is something about the psyche in South Africa which makes the radio the medium of choice. “There is more risk and more hurdles in TV to jump over, it’s a bit more like the wild west”. 

 

Radio is the perfect medium to educate people. In fact, in South Africa they’ve been experimenting with education on radio. 

 

“Radio will morph with every digital platform, however, radio will be the only medium to tell a thousand personal pictures”.
